In 1934, the Portsmouth Spartans relocated to Detroit and became the Detroit Lions. The Detroit Lions celebrated their 75th Anniversary during 2008. Hailing from Motor City and playing their home games at the Ford Field Stadium, the Detroit Lions and their fans have strong ties to the automobile industry. The Detroit Lions' prolific history has been filled with unforgettable football players, 12 of which were elected in to the NFL Hall of Fame. Many of the Detroit Lions all-time greats such as Dutch Clark (number 7) and Bobby Layne (number 22) have had their jersey numbers retired as a mark of honour.
