Ernie Banks was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1977, truly making his mark on baseball. The photo mint features Banks in a unique action photo, measuring 8 x 10. Banks had a record breaking 512 home runs. Among many other things, he had five grand slams in 1955, 47 home runs in 1958, and was the first National League player to become MVP two years in a row (58 & 59). The photo of him is mounted within the frame, and accompanied by a genuine certificate of authenticity that is serialized to match the photo. A 24 karat gold plate Chicago Cubs coin, and a 24 karat gold plate Wrigley Field coin are mounted on either side of the certificate, and measure 1.5 in diameter each. After smashing a record five grand slams in 1955, he belted 47 round-trippers in 1958, the most ever by a National League shortstop. He also became the first National Leaguer to win the MVP Award in consecutive years (1958 to 1959). Banks' love for the game is still exemplified by his signature phrase, "Let's play two!" Presented in laser cut double matting and a Black molded wood Frame measuring 12”x 15”.
